Today, we would like to turn your attention to the blues-rock hurricane that is two times nominee Anna Calvi. Anna Calvi's 'Lynchian' take on rambunctious rock has become a prism for her to shine new light on some classic songs.
Ahead of next week's Mercury prize (the second time she's been nominated), we thought it high time, especially considering that she released a covers EP entitled Strange Weather back in July, that as many of her reworkings were compiled in one place, offering a taste of what she's into and what it is about her music that has the likes of Brian Eno who said she's "the best thing since Patti Smith," and Nick Cave in awe of her forceful blues ditties.
These covers veer through the ages, and it seems she's figured out how to make even the most well known songs totally her own.
