Craig, probably dressed in a rubbish jumper, carried off the Best Contemporary Song award for 'Seven Days', and the Artful Dodger track 'Woman Trouble' gained him two more - Songwriter Of The Year and the Ivors Dance Award. According to many he was totally flabbergasted at winning. Naturally.
Other winners of hideous and ill-thought doorstoppers included...
- Stevie Wonder - Special International Award - The Clash (who appeared together for the first time in yonks) - Outstanding Contribution to British Music - 'Babylon' by David Gray - Best Song Musically and Lyrically - 'Can We Fix It?' by Bob The Builder - Best-Selling UK Single - 'Feels So Good' - Sonique - International Hit of the Year - Iron Maiden - International Achievement
... and John Barry got an Academy fellowship for doing soundtracks, and stuff. Grand!
