There’s no doubt that Duels are a good band. A very good band. Packed full of tunes, a blasé-cool disposition and some clever sonic tomfoolery, there’s very few bands who’re peddling such thrustingly excellent wares.
However, in a world of cheeky chappy chirpy bands, why release ‘Potential Futures’? Admittedly it’s got a fine pedigree in a Maximo-meets-Bowie **stylee, but they’ve got a bucketload of tunes that can beat this hands down, and most of them won’t fall into the category marked ‘Post-Kaiser’.
So… We expect more next time. Classy b-side though, in a ‘We’re Still Looking For Major Tom’ way.
