Mommy and Daddy
Permed Past Her Prime
Label: Big Cat Release Date: 26/05/2003
Uber-cool duo, Mommy and Daddy offer us a New York glitterati-shitting electro-thumper which is so arch, it could wash its feet with its hair.
You know the score; faintly-bored sounding intonations by a female vocalist who sounds like she'd rip out your throat and pour a Margarita down the gaping hole. What takes it above the average levels of not-as-clever-as-you-think-you-are Ladytron indulgence is that it's dirtier, colder and more aloof than they could ever be, five times as funny and ten times as cool. Knowing, without being knob.
"why can't I live a normal life?/she says, behind sunglasses/next year she'll be a Stepford Wife/new wave haircuts speak to me/I'm everything Chloe wants to be"
S'right, mofo.
