When it comes to some real UK hip-hop that invigorates and catches you gently by the scruff of the neck, Roots Manuva is the ultimo. There's no hiding behind any wannabe East/West Coast blingdrop or trying to make it ‘too real' with a faker's tales of an imaginary bling shooting. Here, the murmured refrain sticks 'cos you have to listen a bit harder after the assured tones that Rodney's just finished spinning, and with some awesome remixes that actually sound good - rather than just being there to fill up the other 16 minutes - this becomes a well-rounded single. 'Awfully Deep'? You will be.
