...And the award for most nonsensical lyric of the year goes to... The Young Knives. "I am the Prince of Wales / and if all else fails / I am the Prince of Wales" trills their bassist, the exuberantly monickered House of Lords.
This trio of self appointed fruitcakes wouldn't be able to get away with such decadence if their screwball pop wasn't quite so infectious, but it is so they do, and 2006 had better watch out because there's a whole album of this heading our way.
Eccentric, overblown and as English as a red telephone box, The Young Knives look set to put Ashby-de-la-Zouch back on the map.
