Ooh, indie-pop news!
Vancouver-based titans of melody-rich indie, The New Pornographers, will release their new album, Challengers, via Matador on August 20. That Dan Bejar guy, right - also of Destroyer, yeah - he only wrote three of the songs. Nice one, Dan.
Says core member Carl Newman of one of Bejar's efforts, 'Entering White Cecilia': "I believe Dan is singing about entering a girl named Cecilia, who is either white or dressed in white, or both. Like all of Dan's work, it is overtly sexual."
Sticky. Tracklisting as follows:
'My Rights Versus Yours' 'All the Old Showstoppers' 'Challengers' 'Myriad Harbour' 'All the Things That Go to Make Heaven and Earth' 'Failsafe' 'Unguided' 'Entering White Cecilia' 'Go Places' 'Mutiny, I Promise You' 'Adventures in Solitude' 'The Spirit of Giving'
The band have a trio of London dates arranged for this month, too:
June 18 London Islington Bar Academy 19 London Borderline 20 London 93 Feet East
