That title starts with "how" but it's not a question, it's something we're going to show you over the coming months. We'll reveal all, through a range of mediums but primarily our new podcast series by the same name. A podcast that's a companion to a book also named How Music Can Save the World by Shain Shapiro.

Before Shain was an advocate for music at places like the United Nations and worked with mayors and presidents around the world, he was a contributor to DiS. When he decided he wanted to make a podcast to go with this new book, we were his first phone call and we're absolutely thrilled to be involved.

It's been an inspiring year sitting in on these conversations that we'll be sharing between now and the book's release on February 9th (pre-order your copy).

Rather than me blabbing on and on (and on) about it, head to Apple, YouTube or search for "Drowned in Sound" wherever you get your podcasts, and give our first episode a listen or bookmark it for later.

Our launch is with one of the most inspiring humans on planet earth. Maggie Baird founded Support + Feed who do amazing work that you might have seen Hayley Williams supporting in the US or more likely at shows by Maggie's megastar kids, Billie Eilish and Finneas.

One of the things that surprised me from this chat and my research was that on Billie Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft tour, 36,036 fans took the Support + Feed pledge to eat one plant-based meal a day for 30 days, according to the tour’s impact report. By March 2026, Support + Feed says, more than 100,000 people had taken the pledge. National Geographic’s piece about the tour also counts 27 food drives feeding more than 4,000 people.

We're honoured to have Maggie Baird as the first guest on this new series and we can't wait to hear what you think of this episode.
