We've tried something a little different this week. After a few fairly hefty episodes of the DiS podcast discussing how fans can change government policy to save live music, we thought it would be fun to discuss some of the gigs of the summer and try out a new podcast format.
On this week's pod I sat down with Helena Wadia to discuss recent shows from Robyn, Los Campesinos!, My Chemical Romance, and the lead singer of her favourite band, The National's Matt Berninger.
There's also a bunch of deviations about the state of live music, no view tickets, height issues at shows, and some gig tips, like a sneaky way to get a seat on the tube after everyone piles out of The O2.
If you've never dipped into our podcast before, this is a great episode to start with. And if you're a regular, we'd love to know what you think of this shift of gears.

Coming soon on the podcast:
- I caught up with Blood Red Shoes (who are one of my favourite bands, so much so I released one of their first singles on the DiS label) about their new album and life on the road.
- We also have an a very special episode that I need to edit this week about music in Ukraine.
Please note: If you prefer to watch our pod, we're rethinking our approach to YouTube as it adds many more hours labour each week. We'll be posting again on YouTube soon. In the meantime, why not try Sounds Like Change on YouTube, which is part of our podcast network, meeting organisers and campaigners to discuss the role music plays in their life and work.
Thank you for tuning in and thanks in advance for your feedback to this little experiment. As always, there's a companion playlist to this week's episode which you can hear here:
Drowned in Sound is proud to be partnered with Qobuz, the pioneering high quality music streaming platform.
Each week, we create a companion playlist for our podcast. School's out for summer and the DiS team are sharing their tunes of the year and this week it's the turn of podcast co-host Helena Wadia. Listen to all of our playlists here.
